Scott E. McALLISTER, 62, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away quietly on Saturday, June 23, 2018 from health issues he had fought for several years. He was born February 1, 1956, in Mt. Pleasant, to Dan and Bette FLEENOR McALLISTER. Scott graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1974 and was a member of the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church.

He worked in the seed business and on the family farms all of life. He enjoyed raising cattle and farming with his dad. In 1977, he started working in his father's business as a salesman. He bought the Miner Seed House in Fairfield in 1979 and became production manager for Mt. Pleasant and Fairfield. Under his leadership, McAllister Seed Company became the first to introduce semi-dwarf soybeans, cyst nematode resistant soybeans, STS and glysophate resistant soybeans in the tri-state area.

He became general manager in 1986. He loved tractor pulling and successfully campaigned modified tractors in the 70's and 80's; pulling three times in the "Big One" in Louisville, Kentucky. He was a director on the board of the Iowa Tractor Puller's Association; eventually becoming President. He was a delegate to the board of the National Tractor Pulling Association and was instrumental in organizing the Skunk River Valley Chapter of Ducks Unlimited.

McALLISTER started late model dirt track racing and put together his own team in 2000. That team went on to win two Track Championships and the Deery Brothers Summer Series. He enjoyed attending shows and sales with Bob Gabeline and Dennis Polk. Due to increasing health problems, Mr. McALLISTER retired in 2012. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents and grandparents. Survivors include his brother, Rande (Dixie) of Mt. Pleasant, sister Teresa of Naples, Florida and a multitude of friends all over the United States.
