David PECH, 92, of Fairfield, died Friday, March 24, 2017, at SunnyBrook Assisted Living.
A funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Nick Adam officiating. Burial, with military rites, will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
A Christian wake prayer service will be 6 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church, with visitation to follow from 6:30-8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to ALS Association or Honor Flight. Cards and memorials can be mailed to Roxanne HICKENBOTTOM, 1686 Old Highway 34, Fairfield 52556. Online condolences can be made at www.behnerfh.com.
Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield is assisting with arrangements.
Mr. PECH was born July 18, 1924, to Fred and Mary Theresa BODE PECH. He married Arlene Rose VAN DYKE Nov. 9, 1947, in Muscatine. She died March 11, 2016.
Mr. PECH was a lifelong resident of Fairfield. He graduated from Fairfield High School. He owned and operated Pech Welding Shop for more than 50 years.
His pastimes included woodworking, nature, gardening, traveling, camping, and outdoor activities with family. Spending time with family and friends meant the most to him.
Mr. PECH was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He was an American Legion member for 70 years and served on the color guard.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theatre.
Survivors include: daughters, Jane MILLER of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Sharlyn PECH of Oak Park, Illinois, Roxanne (Steve) HICKENBOTTOM of Fairfield, Jeanette (Tom) PECH-TIMMERMAN of Columbia, Missouri, and LeAnn FREDRICKSON of Fairfield; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by: his parents; and son, William PECH.
