Charlotte HEWITT

Charlotte HEWITT, 86, of Fairfield, died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017, at SunnyBrook Living Care Center in Fairfield.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, with the Rev. Phil Campbell officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation will be 9:30-10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, prior to the service.

Mrs. HEWITT was born Feb. 9, 1930, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Elizabeth DOOLEY TURNER. She married Mahlon HEWITT in 1952 in Weston, Missouri. He died Feb. 24, 2007.

She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business and girls physical education from Northwest Missouri State College in 1952. She taught in Maryville, Weston, and Belton in Missouri, and in Fairfield. She retired in 1992.

Her pastimes included watching wildlife in her backyard or walking at Jefferson County Park, traveling with her husband and the Libertyville Travelers Club, reading, watching Iowa Hawkeye basketball and spending time with family and friends. She and her husband also raised Irish setters and showed Irish setters and English cocker spaniels.

Mrs. HEWITT attended Faith United Methodist Church in Libertyville.

Survivors include: two sons, John HEWITT and wife Beverly of Birmingham, and James HEWITT and wife Sherri, also of Birmingham; one granddaughter; three stepgrandchildren; and five great-stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her husband; parents; one brother; and two sisters.
