HEWITT, Mahlon H. -- Mahlon H. HEWITT, 77, of Fairfield, died at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007, at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.

A service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, with the Rev. Keevin Koch officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield.

Family visitation will be from 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. HEWITT was born Sept. 8, 1929, the son of Clement D. and Lena HUNTER HEWITT. He married Charlotte TURNER in June 1952 in Weston, Mo.

Mr. HEWITT was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in the Korean War.

Mr. HEWITT lived in Fairfield since 1962. He was a school psychologist and held jobs in Scranton, Keokuk, and Fairfield schools.

He was a board member of the Libertyville Travelers Club. His memberships included the Howard Johnson Coffee Club, Pheasants Forever and BPOE No. 1192.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, John HEWITT and wife Beverly and James HEWITT and wife Sherri, all of Birmingham; one granddaughter, three stepgrandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded by his parents and two brothers, Homer J. and William C. HEWITT.
