HINSON, Ann Louise -- Ann Louise HINSON, 74, died Saturday, February 24, 2007 after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 28, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Urbandale, of which she was a member. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.
Ann was born on June 27, 1932 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Roy and Grace NELSON PETERSON. She was a 1950 graduate of Ottumwa High School and attended Augustana College in Rock Island, IL. On April 5, 1953, Ann married Dr. Daniel HINSON of Fairfield in Ottumwa. Ann was a tireless mother, community volunteer, homeroom mother, PEO sister and gardener. She will be remembered for her humor, generous and loving spirit and servant's heart.
She is survived by her husband, Dan; five daughters, Valerie (Randy) MOFFATT, Julie (Eric) WRIGHT, Melissa (Bill) SLAIKEU, Kris (Jeff) ANDERSON and Carrie (Bob) JACKSON; and ten grandchildren. Ann was preceded in death by her parents; and her aunt, Violet NELSON.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27, at Iles Funeral Homes - Westover Chapel located at 6337 Hickman Road in Des Moines. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to either: The Alzheimer's Association of Iowa, Hospice of Central Iowa or Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.
