Patricia FRIEBERG, 82, of Fairfield, died Monday, May 16, 2016, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City (note: in Johnson Co., IA).

Arrangements are pending at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Patricia A. FRIEBERG

Pat FRIEBERG, Fairfield, Iowa, died on May 16, 2016, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City after a brief illness.

Patricia SEDORE was born September 25, 1934 in Ottumwa to Ralph F. and Helen JOHNSTON SEDORE. She graduated from Eldon High School in 1952 and married Robert FRIEBERG on September 20, 1953. They had four children. Bob died on May 15, 1965. After her husband's death, Pat raised purebred hogs for 18 years while raising her family on the farm in Jefferson County.

Pat moved to Fairfield in July 1983. She managed the Town Crier for 8 years. In December 1988, she began working in the Jefferson County Auditor's office. In July of 1995, she was named Jefferson County's first CPC (Central Point of Coordination). As CPC she managed the budget and acted as gatekeeper for the County's services and support for mental health. Pat retired from the CPC position and then worked part time for the County, administering VA benefits until retiring completely at the age of 76.

Pat was a member of Packwood Christian Church and served as treasurer of CWF Disciples Women. Previously, she served as an elder and treasurer of the First Christian Church in Fairfield. Over the years she has also served as treasurer of the County Republican Central Committee; president of County Republican Women; a member of the County and State Extension Council; County 4-H swine leader; president of the Jefferson County Porkettes and member of Jefferson County Pork Producers; president of the Fairfield Soroptimist and Business and Professional Women. In her spare time and in her retirement, she enjoyed quilting, sewing, reading, and watching basketball and football.

Pat is survived by two sons, Dave (Terri) of Norwalk and Dan (Diana) of Des Moines and two daughters, Nancy (Dale) PENNER and Janette FIEDLER of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Adam and Luke FRIEBERG; Andy, Ben, and Claire FIEDLER; and Miranda, Jordan, Eli, and Kai SULLIVAN; and special family friends Roger and Carol Ann Harrington. She is also survived by her brothers LaVerne and Wayne; her sister Thelma RUPE; many nieces and nephews; and many additional friends and family.

Visitation will be at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield on Thursday, May 19, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 20, at Prairie View United Methodist church, 27131 Highway 78, Ollie with Pastor Frosty Van Voorst officiating. Lunch will be served at the church followed by graveside services at Fell Cemetery, Libertyville.

Memorials may be made to the Packwood Christian Church, 203 S Church St, Packwood, Iowa 52580; Jefferson County Republican Scholarship Fund, care of Raymond Funeral Home; or Mercy Hospital Foundation, 500 E Market St, Iowa City, IA 52245.
