Lois E. BROKKEN, 84, of rural Fairfield, died Monday morning, March 21, 2016, at Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Lois E. BROKKEN

Lois E. BROKKEN, age 84 of rural Fairfield, died Monday, March 21, 2016 at the Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.

Lois was born May 12, 1931 in Jefferson County, Iowa, the daughter of Andrew Peter and Dorothy Augusta POHREN CRILE.

A lifetime resident of Jefferson County, she graduated from Fairfield High School in 1949. She received her B.A. in nursing from Augustana College.

Lois worked at the Jefferson County Hospital and in the Jefferson County Public Health office before her retirement.

Lois married Wallace E. BROKKEN on August 4, 1956 at the Clara Lutheran Church at Salina, Iowa.

She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Fairfield and the Jefferson County Democrats. She rode in the Iowa State Fair Caravan for the Iowa State Fair Centennial in 1954 and again in 2004. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren, playing piano, singing, embroidery, sewing, her flower garden and making her famous pecan rolls.

Deceased family members include her husband Wallace on August 2, 2009, her parents, 1 brother Keith CRILE and 2 sisters in infancy.

Surviving are her 2 sons: Mike BROKKEN of Lockridge, John BROKKEN of Fairfield; 2 daughters: Julie BROKKEN of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Melinda and husband Sam ESTLE of Lockridge, Iowa; 6 grandchildren: Molly and Katy BROKKEN of Fairfield, Breanna ESTLE of Ames, Iowa, Jake ESTLE with the U.S. Air Force in South Korea, and Morgan and Madison BROKKEN of Roanoke, Virginia.; (sic) and 2 sisters: Loretta (Wayne) DIERS of Fairfield and Betty JACOBS of Burlington, Iowa.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, March 26th at the First Lutheran Church in Fairfield with Pastor Brian Gentz officiating.

Interment at the Union Cemetery will be at a later date.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Memorials may be made to: First Lutheran Church, Union Cemetery or for Parkinson Research and may be mailed to: Melinda ESTLE at 2076 Tangerine Ave., Lockridge, Iowa 52635.
