BROKKEN, Wallace -- Wallace BROKKEN, 78, of rural Fairfield, died this morning, Monday, Aug. 3, 2009, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Arrangements are pending at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

BROKKEN, Wallace 'Wally' Elvind -- Wallace "Wally" Elvind BROKKEN age 78 of 2197 Spruce Ave., Fairfield died Sunday, August 2, 2009 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.
Wally was born September 15, 1930 at Fairfield, the son of Eivind "Ed" and Anna Pauline LEU BROKKEN. He was a graduate of Fairfield High School in 1948.
Wally served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 until 1955 as a Staff Sergeant in the 806th Supply Squadron during the Korean War. He married Lois CRILE on August 4, 1956 at the Salina Lutheran Church. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Fairfield. A lifelong farmer, he was a pork producer, raised cattle and was a conservationist.
He served on the Union Cemetery board for 40 years and was president of the board for 35 years.
Deceased family members include his parents.
Surviving are his wife Lois, 4 children and their families: John BROKKEN and his daughters Molly and Katy of Fairfield; Julie BROKKEN of Phoenix, AZ; Melinda ESTLE and husband Sam and their children Breanna and Jake of Lockridge; Mike BROKKEN and his wife Patty and their daughters Morgan and Madison of Lockridge.
Also surviving are his siters and brothers: Kathryn HESTON of Milwaukee, WI; Ray BROKKEN of Corvallis, OR; Rosie KAUTZ of Goehring, NE; Helen TERRILL of Muscatine, IA; Sonja BROKKEN of Harlington, TX; Leo BROKKEN of Fairfield and Tom BROKKEN of San Angelo, TX.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Thursday at the First Lutheran Church in Fairfield with Pastor John Meyer officiating.
Interment will be in the Union Cemetery, east of Fairfield.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.
Memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Church "Feed the Children fund," the Union Cemetery or for a memorial bench at Oakland Mills Park.
Arrangements are in the care of the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.
