Evelyn M. SYFERT

Evelyn M. SYFERT, 93, of Keosauqua and formerly of Fairfield and Birmingham, died at 5:55 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 6, 2015, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with her grandson Chad RATH officiating. Burial will be in Fellows Cemetery in Keosauqua.

Visitation will open at 3 p.m., Wednesday, with family present 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials to Van Buren County Hospital or Midwest Old Thresher's Reunion can be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family in the care of Janice SPARKS, 1827 Highway 1, Fairfield 52556.

Mrs. SYFERT was born May 26, 1922, in rural Keosauqua, the daughter of Rex Vale and Goldie GIBSON KERR. She married Glen N. SYFERT Sept. 30, 1938, in Fairfield. He died Dec. 25, 2005.

They lived in Fairfield, Cherokee Village in Arkansas and Birmingham. She entered Good Samarita Center in Keosauqua in 2008.

She was a longtime member of First Church of the Nazarene in Fairfield and had been a Sunday school teacher and choir member. She had been a member of Fairifeld Rebekah Lodge and cooked at Red & Ruth's and Ranch Drive-in restaurants. She worked many years at Fairfield Glove Company.

Survivors include: three daughters, Barbara JOHNSON and Joyce FULTON, both of Mt. Pleasant, and Janice SPARKS and husband Gary of Fairfield; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: one daughter, Beverly SHULL; and one brother, Donald KERR.
