Kathleen NELSON, 95, of Fairfield, died Wednesday evening, Aug. 5, 2015, at SunnyBrook Living Care Center in Fairfield.

Service arrangements are pending at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Kathleen NELSON

Kathleen NELSON, 95, of Fairfield, died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2015, at SunnyBrook Living Care Center in Fairfield.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield, with the Rev. Frosty Van Voorst officiating.

The family will receive friends from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Cremation has been accorded. Interment will be at a later date at Packwood Cemetery in Packwood.

Memorials have been established to Packwood Christian Church or The Lord's Cupboard in Fairfield. Online condolences can be made at www.raymondfuneralhomes.com .

Mrs. NELSON was born Feb. 20, 1920, at Rose Hill, the daughter of Hollis and Madge VAN WINKLE MOORE. She married Ernest "Shorty" NELSON May 31, 1941, in Macon, Missouri. He died March 16, 1973 (sic - March 16, 1987).

Mrs. NELSON grew up in the Rose Hill community and graduated from Rose Hill High School.

She and her husband farmed in the Packwood community until moving to Fairfield in 1973.

In addition to working with her husband in their farming operation, Mrs. NELSON worked at Brown Shoe Fit Company and Kelley's Furniture in Fairfield.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Fairfield.

She also was a member of the Packwood Chapter of T.T.T.

Survivors include: one daughter Yolanda MYERS and husband John of Packwood; one son, Allen NELSON of Ottumwa; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-step-grandchildren; two great-great-step-grandchildren; and two brothers, George MOORE of Ottumwa and Robert MOORE of Williamsburg.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: one son, Hollis NELSON; two infant daughters; and two brothers.
