Clyde E. SPROUSE

Clyde E. SPROUSE, 85, of Keosauqua died Sunday morning, Aug. 9, 2015, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Jerry Caughton officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Cantril, with military rites by Russell-Strait Post No. 483, American Legion, Milton.

Visitation will open at 3 p.m. Tuesday, with family present from 5-7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Memorials to Russell-Strait Post or Cantril Grass Roots can be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 3542 Wapello-Jefferson Road, Eldon 52554.

Mr. SPROUSE was born July 8, 1930, in Farmington, the son of Selby and Florence KECK SPROUSE. He married Mary Marguerite "Maggie" HUFF. She died June 21, 2013.

Mr. SPROUSE served with the U.S. Army in Korea during the Korean War (sic - Korean Conflict).

He was a heavy equipment operator and worked on many road projects. He was one of the builders of Lake Sugema south of Keosauqua while he worked at Cole Construction Co.

Mr. SPROUSE lived many years in the Cantril community and started the women's softball program there.

In retirement, he mowed yards in Keosauqua.

Mr. SPROUSE attended Cantril Christian Church.

He was a member of Russell-Strait Post No. 483, American Legion in Milton.

He loved to fish.

Survivors include: one daughter, Teresa NORTON and husband Rex of Gorin, Missouri; one son, Chris D. SPROUSE of Calleo, Missouri; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Grace MILLS of Salem.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one grandson; and two sisters, Vera SCHEER and Carolyn BOLIN.
