Ruth Esther HAIFLEY, 88, of Fairfield, died Sunday, July 19, 2015, at Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.

Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield is helping the family with arrangements.

Ruth Esther HAIFLEY

Ruth Esther HAIFLEY, 88, of Fairfield, died Sunday, July 19, 2015, at Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.

The funeral is 2 p.m. Thursday at First Church of the Nazarene in Fairfield, with the Rev. Howard Innis officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, in Fairfield.

Visitation for family and friends will be 1-2 p.m. Thursday at First Church of the Nazarene, prior to the service.

Mrs. HAIFLEY was born Dec. 6, 1926, in Bowmont, Idaho, the daughter of Oscar Scott and Lozett McKEEHEN GREEN. She married John J. HAIFLEY, June 6, 1948, at First Church of Nazarene in Fairfield. He died May 4, 2010.

Mrs. HAIFLEY lived in Idaho until she was 16. She moved to South Dakota and was there until she was 20 and moved to Fairfield. She attended Parsons College and earned a four-year degree in three years.

She taught 12 years in rural schools and at least six years at the Pleasant Plain School before starting to teach in the Fairfield school district. She retired in 1989 after 41 years of teaching.

Mrs. HAIFLEY was a member of First Church of the Nazarene, Retired School Personnel and DAR. She enjoyed reading Christian novels, flowers, sewing and cooking.

Survivors include: one daughter, Sharon HAIFLEY of Fairfield.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Herman GREEN; and two sisters, Alice GREEN in infancy and Helen SWARTZ.
