Mila Eveleen FOREMAN SLOAN, 89, quietly and peacefully crossed over to heaven to meet her Savior and waiting loved ones on Sunday, June 14, 2015, while at home in Russiaville, Indiana.
Visitation for family and friends will be 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm, Saturday, June 20, 2015 prior to the service at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, IA.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 pm, Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield IA, with Pastor Danny Cary officiating. Burial will be at Silent City Cemetery, Monroe, IA.
Memorials can be made to St Joseph Hospice, Kokomo, IN or First United Methodist Church, Fairfield, IA. Cards and memorials can be sent to: Barbara BROUWER, 380 E. Kinsey Drive, Apt #19, Russiaville, IN 46979.
She was born at Linby, Jefferson County, Iowa on January 13, 1926 to Clyde Cremer and Jeanette Olive DANKS FOREMAN. Mila was raised in the Monroe, Iowa area, the youngest of four children.
She was married to Wain Leonial SLOAN November 3, 1943. To this union were born three daughters, Deanna Mae, Barbara Ann, and Lois Irene. Wain and Mila enjoyed over 65 years of marriage. He passed away March 1, 2009.
Mila graduated from Monroe, Iowa High School, then worked in Des Moines, IA during World War II. Upon Wain's return from the Navy they established their home in Monroe, and Mila was a stay-at-home Mom, taking care of their three little girls. Later she worked at Whitted Implement in parts control & purchasing.
Wain and Mila moved to Fairfield, Iowa in 1966 and she worked in the office at Iowa Malleable Iron Company, retiring in 1986. In 2013 Mila moved to Russiaville, Indiana, to be hear her daughter Barbara.
A member of the United Methodist Church in Monroe and later in Fairfield, Iowa, Mila taught children in Sunday School, jointly worked with Wain in youth group, and substitute taught an adult class.
Mila was a Charter member and past president of the Jefferson County Genealogical Society, a past Regent of the Log Cabin Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, held offices in the Daughters of American Colonists and in Colonial Dames Seventeenth Century. She and Wain enjoyed traveling with their Airstream across the United States researching the genealogy of their families.
Mila's greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was always ready to greet them with a kiss and a hug.
Mila is survived by her daughters, Barbara BROUWER, Russiaville, IN and Lois BYRD of Houston, TX; eight grandchildren and spouses, Mark (Susan) BROUWER, Michael (Debra) BROUWER, Valerie (Clark) LONG, Tom (Christina) CAMPBELL, Matt CAMPBELL, Bill CAMPBELL, Barbara CAMPBELL, and Scott (Amber) BYRD; along with fourteen great-grandchildren and four great, great-grandchildren.
Preceeding (sic) her in death was her spouse, Wain L. SLOAN; daughter and son-in-law, Deanna and John CAMPBELL; her parents; two sisters Ruth FOREMAN, Eunice KASTER and husband Harold; and one brother, Tom FOREMAN and wife Lola.
