Phylis Maxine MILLER SPANIER, 81, formerly of Richland, died Thursday evening, April 9, 2015, at Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Gould Funeral Home in Richland, with the Rev. Jeremy Skinner officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. immediately preceding the memorial service Monday.
Memorial gifts can be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 11594 Floris Road, Floris 52560.
Mrs. SPANIER was born Dec. 5, 1933, in Abingdon, the daughter of Charles Edward and Ollie FULLER MILLER. She married Kenenth Ivan SPANIER May 28, 1953, in Kahoka, Missouri. He died June 26, 2010.
Mrs. SPANIER grew up in Batavia and attended Batavia schools.
She worked for Universal Producing Company in Fairfield for a short time before becoming a homemaker.
Survivors include: three daughters, Sally MARTIN and husband Ronald, Rosalene LOWE and Cindy BEAN, all of Washington, Iowa; and two sons, Leland SPANIER of Richland and Jere SPANIER and wife Vanessa of Floris; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: her parents; one daughter, Charlotte CORRICK; one great-grandson; three sisters, Katherine ADAMS MILLER, Edna LONGERBONE BEERY and Helen NELSON PETTIT; and two brothers, Glenn and Earl MILLER.
