Jo Anne VORHIES

Jo Anne VORHIES, age 82 of Fairfield, died Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at the Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield with the Rev. Danny Cary officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Raymond's.

Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield.

Memorials have been established to the Eagles Women's Auxiliary.

Mrs. VORHIES was born May 11, 1932 in Jefferson County to Claire and Mary BABCOCK DUNBAR.

She attended Lockridge High school and lived in the Lockridge community before moving to Fairfield. The family has lived in Fairfield for the past 35 years.

She married V. Albert "Abe" VORHIES on April 9, 1950 at Kahoka, Missouri. They owned and operated the Westwood Pawn Shop and Southview Mobile Home Park.

Mrs. VORHIES was an active member of the Eagles Auxiliary.

Surviving are her three sons and one daughter: Jerry VORHIES, Doug VORHIES and Nancy SCHAFER and her husband Leo, all of Fairfield and son Kirby VORHIES and his wife Teri of Santa Maria, California; 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, plus her two brothers John DUNBAR of Columbus, Ohio and Bill DUNBAR of Birmingham and a sister Christy HANSON of New London.

She was preceded in death by her husband Abe, her parents and two sisters, Mary Lou PETERMAN and Clarice DUNBAR.
