Wayne L. HUMPHREY, 83, of rural Milton died at 8:12 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at home under hospice care.

Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

Wayne L. HUMPHREY, 83, of rural Milton died at 8:12 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at home under hospice care.

The funeral is planned for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Dave Albert officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Milton, with military honors by Russell Strait Post No. 483 American Legion of Milton.

Visitation opened at 3 p.m. today, with family present from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials to Russell Strait Post No. 483 for the Avenue of Flags or Tommy Hoerr Scholarship Fund can be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 22033 Acorn Road, Milton 52570.

Mr. HUMPHREY was born June 4, 1931, on the family farm north of Troy, the son of Elmer H. and Eula Mae PEARSALL HUMPHREY. He married Evelyn WEINY June 29, 1951, at Troy Methodist Church.

Mr. HUMPHREY grew up on the family farm, attended Oak Hill Country School, graduated from Troy High School in 1949 and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War (sic - Korean Conflict).

He adn his wife lived on their farm north of Milton, where they farmed and raised livestock. He worked for John Morrell Company for 22 years, was a truck driver and drove a school bus for Davis County School.

He was a member of the Troy Methodist Church, 26-89 Saddle Club and Russell Strait Post No. 483 American Legion in Milton.

He enjoyed his family, farming, horses, trail riding and the annual Humphrey hog roast.

Survivors include: his wife; three sons, Mike HUMPHREY and wife Sharry of Bloomfield, Roger HUMPHREY and wife Linda of Bloomfield and Curtis HUMPHREY and wife Allison of Milton; two daughters, Karla HILL and husband Tony of Bloomfield and Shelli HOERR and husband Mark of Brimfield, Illinois; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Elizabeth RYSDAM of Burlington, Wisconsin.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; two infant daughters, Vicki and Cheri; two brothers, Robert and Dean HUMPHREY; three sisters, Irene JACKSON, Doris WALKER and Ruth VANDEGRIFF; and one grandson.
