V. Albert 'Abe' VORHIES

The service for V. Albert "Abe" VORHIES, 62, 106 W. Fillmore Ave., who died at 1:15 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, 1994, at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. Keevin Koch officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to the American Heart Association.

VORHIES was born Jan. 12, 1932, near Trenton, the son of Verne E. and Exie MANNING VORHIES. A former resident of Lockridge, he had served for several years as its mayor. He owned and operated Vorhies Plumbing and Excavating was currently semi-retired and operated the Westwood Pawn Shop. He was a member of the Fairfield City Water Board. On April 9, 1950, he married Jo Ann DUNBAR at Kahoka, Mo. She survives.

Also surviving are four children, Jerry, Douglas, and Nancy SCHAFER, all of Fairfield, Kirby VORHIES, Santa Maria, Calif.; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Vern Jr., Birmingham, Merle of Fairfield; two sisters, Winnetta HARWOOD, Glasgow and Wilma JOHNSON, Santa Maria. His parents preceded him in death.
