Patricia Ellen HILLGARTNER

Patricia Ellen HILLGARTNER, 77, of Fairfield, died Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington (note: in Des Moines Co., IA).

The funeral is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at Elliott Chapel in New London, with the Rev. David Huskey officiating. Burial will be in Jaggar cemetery in rural Danville.

Visitation began at noon today, with the family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m. at Elliott Chapel.

A memorial has been established.

Mrs. HILLGARTNER was born Oct. 27, 1937, in Williams, the daughter of Morris Mandeville and Margaret Irene DOYLE WOOD. She married Raymond W. HILLGARTNER Feb. 27, 1954, in Burlington. He died June 29, 2012.

Mrs. HILLGARTNER attended school in Danville

She had worked for IRC in Burlington, ran the Country Cousins Café in Lockridge, and retired from Motorola in Mt. Pleasant. She also sold Home Interiors.

She was of the Catholic faith.

Mrs. HILLGARTNER was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed her family, grandchildren, cocker spaniels, lilacs and a good cup of coffee. Her pastimes included fishing, camping, being outdoors, playing cards, games and puzzles.

Survivors include: two sons, Morris HILLGARTNER and wife Kelly of Lockridge and Rick HILLGARTNER and wife Susan of Harlan; five daughters, Rhonda MATHEWS of Mt. Pleasant, Roberta BENGE and husband Tim of Kansas City, Missouri, Cheryl RICH and husband Mike of Mt. Pleasant, Margaret COLEMAN and husband Jeff of Danville and Sheila BLOMME and husband Martin of Stockport; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three sisters, Irene WALSH of Adel, Betty WAGLER of Fairfield, Shirley LANGHAM of Ragley, Louisiana; and one brother, Roger WOOD of Waimea, Hawaii.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: her parents; one brother, Morris "Mickey" WOOD; one sister, Pamela NOE; and her stepfather, Ralph ACEDO.
