Evelyn WATTS GAMRATH

Evelyn WATTS GAMRATH, 94, of Fairfield, died Sunday, March 1, 2015, in Fairfield.

A graveside service is planned at 1 p.m. Saturday at Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield. A memorial service is set for 3 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Joe Phipps officiating.

Open visitation will be 1-5 p.m. Friday at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Memorials can be made to First Presbyterian Church Scholarship Fund, Fairfield Women's Club or Evergreen Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at www.raymondfuneralhomes.com.

Mrs. GAMRATH was born May 18, 1920, in Des Moines, the daughter of Lee Ross and Rella Fern HEDGES WATTS. She married Robert L. GAMRATH May 30, 1941, at the Barhydt Chapel on the Parsons College campus in Fairfield. He died Feb. 11, 2014.

Mrs. GAMRATH lived in Corning from age 4 until her marriage.

She graduated from Parsons College in 1942.

She taught vocal music in Corning Public Schools, Fairfield grade schools, Fairfield Junior High and Parsons College.

Mrs. GAMRATH was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She directed the church choir for 25 years.

She also was a member of the Abracadabra, Alpha Gamma Delta, Fairfield Golf & Country Club, Chapter C P.E.O., Wit and Wisdom, and Fairfield Women's Club.

Survivors include: her four children, Robert L. GAMRATH Jr. and wife Karen of Lake Bluff, Illinois, Kathryn CARPENTER and husband Daniel of Garland, Texas, Nan KOCOUREK and husband Wayne of Chicago, Illinois, and Thomas S. GAMRATH and fiancée Anne MOORE of Fairfield; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Beverly GLASGOW and Donna PECKHAM.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: her parents; and three sisters, Kathryn HARRISON, Marilyn REINHOLDT and Ruth TRANBARGER.
