Warren E. BEATTY, 88, of Keosauqua, died at 4:15 p.m. Monday, March 2, 2015, at Good Samaritan Society-Van Buren in Keosauqua.

Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

Warren Edgar BEATTY

Warren Edgar BEATTY, 88, of Keosauqua, died at 4:15 p.m. Monday, March 2, 2015, at Good Samaritan Society-Van Buren in Keosauqua.

The funeral is set for 10:30 a.m. Friday at Keosauqua United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Douglas Harding officiating. Burial will be in Fellows Cemetery in Keosauqua (note: in Van Buren Co., IA).

Visitation will open at 3 p.m. Thursday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with family present from 507 p.m.

Memorials to Van Buren Historical Society or Keosauqua United Methodist Church can be left at the funeral home, church or mailed to the family at 23524 245th St., Keosauqua 52565.

Mr. BEATTY was born April 8, 1926, on the family farm north of Keosauqua, the son of Roy and Willa Viola LIMING BEATTY. He married Ruby L. OWENS April 4, 1948, in Fort Madison. She died May 15, 2014.

Mr. BEATTY lived on and farmed the family farm until he semi-retired, moving to Keosauqua in 1988. In addition to farming, he drove a truck for the local creamery and sale barn.

Mr. BEATTY was a member of Keosauqua United Methodist Church and served as a trustee.

He was a charter member of the Keosauqua Lions Club, receiving the Warren Coleman award in 1996 for his dedicated service. He served on the Van Buren Election Board and Country Lane Housing Board and was a member of Van Buren Historical Society and genealogy societies, through which he was involved in cleaning cemeteries.

Mr. BEATTY received the Keosauqua Citizen of the Year Award in 1990.

His pastimes included attending auctions and woodworking.

Survivors include: four daughters, Sharon CARR and husband Melvin of Keosauqua, Carolyn HARRYMAN and husband Marvin of Burlington, Sue McKEEHAN and husband Frank of Clear Lake, South Dakota, and Claudia NICOL and husband Ray of Mason, Michigan; one son, David BEATTY of Burlington; 17 grandchildren; two step-granddaughters; and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by: his parents; and one brother, Howard BEATTY.
