Mark Allen YOCHUM

Mark Allen YOCHUM, 53, of Batavia and formerly of Eldon, died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

As were Mr. YOCHUM's wishes, the body will be cremated following visitation. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Saturday at Kremer Funeral Home in Eldon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to the family. Friends can sign the online guestbook at www.kremerfh.com.

Mark "Skinny, Skinny Dog, or J.J." Allen YOCHUM, was born May 24, 1961, in Ottumwa, the son of John and Katherine SHEPHERD YOCHUM.

He was raised on the family farm. He attended Cardinal community schools and graduated with the Class of 1979.

From the moment he was able, he began to work. He had several jobs while in grade school and continued into high school and after graduation. He traveled throughout Iowa, Nebraska and Missouri working with a road crew on highways and interstates. Most recently, he ran his own construction and concrete company with his two sons, Seth YOCHUM and Cyrus YOCHUM.

His pastimes included riding motorcycles with his sons, working on anything with a motor, cutting wood and shooting guns. He worked hard being a father and was proud of his children.

Survivors include: his parents of Eldon; two sons, Seth YOCHUM and Cyrus YOCHUM, both of Batavia; one daughter, Felicia BUSTAMANTE of Montezuma; three grandchildren; two brothers, John YOCHUM of Batavia and Matthew YOCHUM of Eldon; and one sister, Lisa SMITH of Douds.
