Ila Mae GUISINGER

Ila Mae GUISINGER, 89, of Fairfield, died thursday, March 5, 2015, at SunnyBrook Living Care Center in Fairfield.

A memorial service will be held at a later date, with burial of cremains at Ankeny Memorial Gardens (note: in Polk Co., IA).

Memorials can be made to First United Methodist Church in Fairfield. Online condolences can be made at www.behnerfh.com .

Mrs. GUISINGER was born March 6, 1925, the daughter of William and Carrie VANDEHAAR. She married Jay GUISINGER in August of 1946.

She spent her childhood near Mitchellville. Her husband's employment with Phillips Petroleum took them to many cities to live including: Des Moines; Storm Lake; Minneapolis, Walpole, Massachusetts; Omaha, Nebraska; and Fairfield. After his retirement, they remained in Fairfield.

Mrs. GUISINGER spent volunteering (sic) at the Methodist church, playing bridge and reading.
Survivors include: one son Roger GUISINGER and wife Laurinda; one son-in-law, Mike EILANDER; four grandchildren; one brother, Norman VANDEHAAR; and one sister Vivian THOMPSON.

She was preceded in death by: her husband; one daughter, Barbara; her parents; four brothers; and two sisters.

A memorial service is set for 1 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Fairfield, with the Rev. Jessica Rockhold Gaul. Burial will be at a later date at Ankeny Memorial Gardens.
