Maxine E. FORNEY AVERY

Maxine E. FORNEY AVERY, 90, of Fairfield, died Friday, Nov. 21, 2014, at the Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.

No services are scheduled at this time. Interment of cremains will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

The family requests no flowers. Memorials can be directed to Hope Lodge in Iowa City or to Antioch Cemetery. Memorials can be sent to Rick AVERY, 918 Reuel St., Kellogg 50135 or left at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield. Online condolences can be made at www.raymondfuneralhomes.com.

Mrs. AVERY was born March 13, 1924, in Fairfield, the daughter of Elmer Earl and Edith Lavern GURWELL FORNEY. She married Homer AVERY Oct, 9, 1943, in Kahoka, Missouri. He died Jan. 5, 2007.

Mrs. AVERY grew up in Fairfield and graduated from Fairfield High School in 1942.

She worked as a clerk at F.W. Woolworth's Store and at Brown Shoe Fit Company in Fairfield.

After she and her husband moved to Milton in 1956, she was secretary for the Van Buren County engineer until retiring April 1, 1986.

They moved back to Fairfield in 1990.

Mrs. AVERY was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and First Lutheran Church.

Survivors include: one son, Richard Eugene AVERY and his special friend Mary Ann Pim of Kellogg; special friend, Donald Angstead of Fairfield; two granddaughters; two great-granddaughters; one great-grandson; and one stepgreat-grandson.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: one son, Gary (sic - Garry) Allan AVERY; and her parents.
