Gordon A. KNOWLES, 81, of Stockport died at 4:20 a.m. today, Thursday, June 20, 2013, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

Gordon KNOWLES

Gordon A. KNOWLES, 81, of Stockport died at 4:20 a.m. Thursday, June 20, 2013, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

The body has been cremated according to his wishes. A celebration of his and his wife's lives is set for 1-4 p.m. Sunday at the family home in Stockport.

Memorials to the family can be brought to or mailed to the family home: 215 N. Main St., Stockport 52651.

Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua handled the cremation.

Mr. KNOWLES was born March 24, 1932, in Stockport, the son of Elmer and Vera BROWN KNOWLES. He married Laura E. HEINOLD July 31, 1954, at First United Methodist Church in Fairfield. She died June 17, 2007.

Mr. KNOWLES graduated from Stockport High School. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a mail carrier in Arlington, Va., Peoria, Ill., and Tucson, Ariz., before retiring to Stockport. He was a Mason.

Survivors include three daughters: Sheri BRUNS and husband Richlard of Carlock, Ill., Marla KNOWLES of Fairfield and Teresa KNOWLES of Hillsboro; two sons: David KNOWLES and wife Sherry of Carlock and Kriss KNOWLES and wife Terri of Batavia, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Ardythe GARDNER and Anna Marie MILLER.
