Mary Ester LEYDENS

Mary Ester LEYDENS, 85, of Keosauqua died at 5:25 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2013, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

The funeral is set for 10:30 a.m. Monday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Danny Cary officiating.

Visitation will open at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with family present 5-7 p.m.

Gifts to a memorial to be established later by the family can be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 17778 Lake View Drive, Moravia, 52571.

Mrs. LEYDENS was born Aug. 5, 1927, in the White community between Birmingham and Douds, the daughter of Rilla and Mary RANARD POOL. She married Ray E. LEYDENS May 1, 1947, in the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He died April 17, 1995.

Mrs. LEYDENS attended White school and later earned her GED certificate.

She was a farm homemaker, had worked at Universal Producing Company in Fairfield and operated her own cake and candle business. She enjoyed quilting and gardening.

Survivors include: four daughters, Teresa PALM and husband Robert of Fairfield, Janice WRIGHT of Moravia, Connie WINEINGER of Fairfield and Deanne THORNBURG and husband Danny of Keosauqua; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers: Joe, Wilson, Roscoe, Frank Colin and Robert POOL; and four sisters, Jessie SCHLEETER, Erma HOOTMAN, Juanita POOL and Caroline CHANNEL.
