Harriet A. ADAM

Harriet A. ADAM, 87, of Fairfield died Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.

A funeral mass is scheduled at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Fairfield, with the Rev. Stephen Page officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield.

Open visitation will be from noon until 4 p.m. Friday at Raymond Funeral Home and from 6-8 p.m. Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Mary Catholic Church or Hospice Compasses (sic - Compassus) of Cedar Rapids. Condolences can be sent to the family at Raymond Funeral Home's website www.raymondfuneralhomes.com.

Mrs. ADAM was born July 24, 1925, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Charles F. and Clara HAMMES GREINER. She married Elmer M. ADAM at St. James Catholic Church in Washington. He died June 9, 2008.

Mr. and Mrs. ADAM started farming in 1947 in Washington County, then moved to Jefferson County in 1951.

Mrs. ADAM was a housewife and homemaker all of her life. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and Helping Hands. Her hobbies were watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, Boston Red Sox baseball, gardening, flowers, playing cards and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include seven children: Dennis ADAM and wife Andra, Bonnie KESSEL and husband Mike, Robert ADAM and wife Nanette, James and wife Rebecca, Marvin JOSEPH and wife JoAnn, all of Fairfield, Charles ADAM and wife Susan of La Belle, Mo., and Jan McDONOUGH and husband Mike of Ottumwa; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one brother, Wilford GREINER of Washington; and one sister, Marrietta GREINER of Campbellport, Wis.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one grandchild, six brothers and two sisters.
