Donald E. BARKER

Donald E. BARKER, 78, of Keosauqua, formerly of Fairfield, died at 4:15 a.m. today, May 25, 2012 at Good Samaritan Society-Van Buren Hospice.

Arrangements are being handled at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua.

Donald Eugene BARKER

Donald Eugene BARKER, 78, of Keosauqua, formerly of Fairfield, died Friday, May 25, 2012, at Good Samaritan Society-Van Buren Hospice, Keosauqua.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Keosauqua United Methodist Church, with Lee McIntosh officiating. The body has been cremated. Private burial of cremains will be in Pittsburg Cemetery.

Memorials to Pittsburg Cemetery may be brought to the church or mailed to the family at P.O. Box 98, Keosauqua 52565.

Mr. BARKER was born June 4, 1933, the son of Arnold and Ruth GILBERT BARKER in Omaha, Neb. He married Marcia "Marty" SCOTTON. They divorced, but remained close friends. She died May 12, 2012.

He grew up in the Keosauqua community and graduated from Keosauqua High School. He worked as a horse trainer in Florida, a heavy equipment operator and worked for John Smith Seeding in Keosauqua.

He served in both the U.S. Navy and U. S. Army.

Survivors include four daughters, Amy BOVEE and Leslie YOUNG both of Hawkinsville, Ga., Melinda DAVENPORT and spouse Ronald of Keosauqua and Becky KELLER of Fairfield; two sons, Steve BARKER and spouse Amy of Batavia and Quintin BARKER and spouse Jennifer of Bloomfield; 13 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and two brothers, Norman BARKER and Duane BARKER both of Keosauqua.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Ruth CLARK BARKER; and one son, Brett BARKER.
