Betty Ilene MEEK

Betty Ilene MEEK, 83, of Bonaparte died at 1:40 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua with the Rev. Richard Elis officiating. P.E.O. Chapter AB will begin the service. Burial will be in Bonaparte Cemetery.

Visitation with family is from 1-2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Bonaparte Cemetery and left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at P.O. Box 7, Bonaparte, 52620.

Mrs. MEEK was born Aug. 15, 1928, in Des Moines, the daughter of Earl and Hazel KENNEDY RICE. She married Deane MEEK. He died in 1983.

She graduated from Bonaparte High School and lived in the Bonaparte community. She had been employed at Corry Machine & Tool, sold advertising for the Bonaparte Record-Republican, provided daycare at her home, was branch manager of State Central Bank and operated Simply Ilene's Shop.

She was a member of Bonaparte United Church and Chapter AB P.E.O. She was a board member of Township Stores and Hawkeye Manner Apartments, all in Bonaparte.

Survivors include three sons, Marshall MEEK and spouse Connie; Mark MEEK and spouse Ellen; and Michael MEEK and spouse Sherry, all of Bonaparte; 11 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Earl RICE Jr. and Robert RICE; and one sister, Virginia VICKERS.
