Gerald E. BESICK, 79, of Ottumwa, formerly of Douds and Bettendorf, died at 8:55 a.m. Thursday, April 12, 2012, at Hospice of Wapello/Davis Counties in Ottumwa.
Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds.

Gerald E. "Bud" BESICK, 79, of Ottumwa, formerly of Douds and Bettendorf, died Thursday, April 12, 2012, at Hospice of Wapello/Davis Counties in Ottumwa.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, with the Rev. Jerry Caughron officiating. Burial of cremains will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Douds.
Visitation, with the family, is from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorials to Hospice of Wapello/Davis Counties or Zion Lutheran Cemetery may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 13857 172nd St., Douds 52551.
Mr. BESICK was born March 13, 1933, in Atalissa, the son of Lumir and Mildred BOLEN BESICK. He married Laura M. BRYANT Sept. 14, 1957, in Kahoka, Mo. She died April 27, 2007.
Mr. BESICK graduated from Atalissa High School in 1951. He worked at Buckles Standard Service in Keosauqua, Douds Stone Inc. in Douds and J.I. Case Company in Burlington. He completed his career at Davenport Municipal Waterworks.
He had been a member of the Moose Lodge and Knights of Pythias Lodge.
Survivors include one sister, Bonnie ROBINSON of Douds; three brothers, James BESICK and Leonard BESICK, both of Douds, and Dennis BESICK of Ottumwa.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.
