Carl C. WILLHOIT, 85, of Batavia, died at 1:52 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Northgate Alliance Church in Ottumwa, with the Rev. Jim Rightler officiating. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa, with the family present from 3-6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northgate Alliance Church, Grace Family Church or Wapello County 4-H.
Mr. WILLHOIT was born May 16, 1926, in rural Batavia, the son of Glenn and Fannie Irene DAVIS WILLHOIT. He married Eloise WHITTINGTON Feb. 27, 1949, in Ottumwa. She died Aug. 21, 2007.
Mr. WILLHOIT was a 1944 graduate of Farson High School. He started helping farm at a young age and farmed with his father, brother and sons, farming his entire life.
Mr. WILLHOIT was a member of Northgate Alliance Church in Ottumwa, where he volunteered his carpenter skills. He served on many local committees and boards.
He loved children and young people.
Survivors include two sons, Terry WILLHOIT and wife Marsha and Mark WILLHOIT and wife Becky, all of Batavia; four grandchildren; and one sister, Helen DOAK of Washington, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by one son, Glen WILLHOIT; and one brother, Max WILLHOIT.
