Charles B. WELLER Jr.

Charles B. WELLER Jr., 88, of Fairfield, died Sunday, June 5, 2011, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.

A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Fairfield, with the Rev. Stephen C. Page officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

The rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, followed by Prayers for Christian Wake and visitation from 6-8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Mary Catholic Church building fund, Parkview Care Center or Hospice Compassus. Cards and memorials may be sent to 1105 S. Main St., Fairfield 52556.

Mr. WELLER was born June 5, 1923, in Bahner, Mo., the son of Charles Sr. and Kathryn WELLER. He married Doris J. CLIFFORD June 25, 1947, in Sedalia, Mo. She died Dec. 16, 2009.

Mr. WELLER retired from J.C. Penney Company after 37 years of service, with 21 years as the manager of the Fairfield store. After retirement, he worked part time for 14 years at Behner Funeral Home.

Mr. WELLER served as sergeant of the 825th Aviation Engineers in World War II from January 1943 to December 1945.

Mr. WELLER was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Elks Lodge No. 1192. He served as a chamber of commerce board member.

Survivors include two sons: Daniel WELLER and Michael WELLER and wife Kathy of Omaha, Neb.; one daughter: Linda REINIER and husband Vern of Fairfield; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother: Don WELLER of Sedalia, Mo.; and one sister: Mary Jo BELLMER of Camdenton, Mo.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and one son: James WELLER.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife: Doris and 1 son: James WELLER.
