MUNTZ, Florence -- Florence MUNTZ, 90, of Farmington, died at 8:37 p.m. Monday, Nov. 3, 2008, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

Arrangements are pending at Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory in Farmington.

MUNTZ, Florence Marie -- Florence Marie MUNTZ, 90, of Farmington, died at 8:37 p.m. Monday, Nov. 3, 2008, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

A funeral wil be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory in Farmington, with the Rev. Larry Wallingford officiating. Burial will be in Thompson Cemetery near Bonaparte.

Visitation will begin at noon Friday at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 5-7 p.m.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Farmington, Farmington EMTs or Farmington Library.

Mrs. MUNTZ was born March 6, 1918, near Farmington, the daughter of Ralph and Carrie MOORE COMPTON. She married William J. "Billy" MUNTZ May 17, 1941, in Farifield. He died Sept. 25, 2008.

Mrs. MUNTZ graduated from Bonaparte High School and then attended Parsons College. She was a rural school teacher for five years.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Farmington. She was a 4-H leader for many years and served on the Farmington Library Board.

Mrs. MUNTZ enjoyed cooking, sewing and gardening. She was known for her meatballs.

Survivors include one daughter, Diane WHITNEY of Fairfield; one son, Dean MUNTZ and wife Sandy of Findlay, Ohio; two grandsons; six stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nine stepgreat-grandchildren; and one sister, Mildred BARKER of Keosauqua.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son-in-law, Bill WHITNEY; and one brother, Thomas COMPTON.
