This probably isn't any help, merely an aside. Louis Napoleon Wentworth homesteaded in south central Nebraska. Although I can't prove it, I believe he was the inspiration for Nat Wheeler, a character in Willa Cather's Pulitzer Prize winning novel, One of Ours http://bartleby.com/1006/1.html
