Mr James Iverson with the Danish American Hertiage Society did not quit after initally telling me that he had not heard of the Norden Brødre Society. He kept looking and has solved the mystery for me. Thought it only right to share !

Dear Lori Callaway
Well, I answered your e-mail two days ago, but now I have to answer it again. I didn't look in quite the right place in one of my books.
In the book "Den Danskfødte Amerikaner" (The Danish Born Americans), there is a reference to "Nordens Brødre".
The book was edited by Max Henius of Chicago, published by Nordisk Forlag of Copenhagen in 1912. "Nordens Brødre"
was Chapter Number 9 of "De Sammensluttede Danske Foreninger", located in Sabula. In that year of 1912 there were 31 local member societies of this organization in the states of Connecticut, New Jersey, Ohio, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Kansas, Colorado, Oregon, and Washington, and the total membership was 3400. The organization was founded in Racine, Wisconsin on the 20th of September, 1882. It was founded as an "umbrella" organization in order to start a Danish organization in "new" Danish colonies. About 1905, it became an insurance society of a kind, partially for the purpose of providing funds for burials. "De Sammensluttede Danske Foreninger" can be translated as "The Union of Danish Societies". In 1912 there were 40 members of the local Society #9 living in Sabula. Although there was a Lutheran "preaching place" in Sabula at one time, I think Nordens Brødre was the only formal Danish organization in that town.I hope this answers your questions.
