UPDATE: The 1850's Bible of John Robinson Serrin II and Sophronia Harrington McConnell Serrin of Marengo, Iowa (my g-g-grandparents)was found last week in Berkeley, CA by someone who found my contact info on this site. He mailed the Bible to me. Family records list first son Fredrick Morse (sp?) Serrin b. Nov 15 1860 d. May 29 1867 age 6 years 6 months 14 days. There is no mention of son "Lincoln" Serrin b. 1860 as listed in the burial records for Old Marengo Cemetery. My grandfather John R Serrin III always referred to his older brother "Lincoln". I wonder if Fredrick was the given name and he was nicknamed "Lincoln" due to Civil War era? I am still searching for photos of John Robinson Serrin II and more info on the Fredrick/Lincoln who died young.
