OBITUARY.
FITZGERALD.
Margaret Benn was born in Ireland in February, 1821 and passed away at her home near Lourdes, March 2, 1909, aged 88 years. In 1843 in Ireland, she was united in marriage to John Fitzgerald. They came to the United States in 1855, locating in Connecticut. Four years later they came to Howard county, locating near Lourdes, in which vicinity they have made their home since.
She was the mother of seven children, two of whom are dead. Those still living are William, Cresco; M. E. and Patrick, of Lourdes, Mrs. Margaret Collins, of Chickasaw county, and Mrs. Mary Mulcahey of Minneapolis, who with the aged father mourn the loss of a mother and wife in every meaning of the word.
The funeral took place at the Catholic church at Lourdes on Thursday last, Father Norris officiating.
The death of Mrs. Fitzgerald removes another from the already thinned ranks of Howard county’s pioneer settlers, and her demise will be sincerely mourned by a host of friends and neighbors.
