Obituary of Mrs. James Barrett.
Miss Nora Malone was born in County Kerry, Ireland, in 1810. She came to America in early life and settled in Canada. About 1837 she was united in marriage to James Barrett They were the parents of nine children, eight boys and one girl. Two, Patrick and Dennis, are dead. The daughter, Anna Kavenau, lives in Wisconsin, James at New Hampton, Edward at Elma, Mike at Haswell, Col., Anthony, Alaska; Thomas, South Milwaukee; John, Cresco. Mr. Barrett died in Canada in 1862. The family moved to Wisconsin in 1865 and in 1888 to Howard county, settling on a farm near Lourdes. For the past few years Mrs. Barrett lived in Elma. She died at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Collins, Thursday, June 4, 1908. She was 98 years old. Mrs. Barrett was a woman of many good qualities and enjoyed the friendship of all who knew her. Her span of life covered one of the most important centuries in the history of the world. The funeral was held from the Church of the Immacu¬late Conception in Elma, Saturday, June 6th. She was buried in the cemetery at Lourdes. —Elma New Era.
