Funeral services for Cletus Huegel were held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, February 8 at the St. Joseph’s Worship Center in Cresco. Rev. Henry W. Charipar officiated. Interment was in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery at Lourdes. Pallbearers were grandsons: Ken Trytek, Robert Trytek, Jason and Brian Wagner, and Jeff and Joshua Irvin. Conway Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Cletus, 88, died Monday, February 5, 2001 at his home in Cresco.
Cletus Henry Huegel was bom April 29, 1912 at Alta Vista, the son of Ed and Anna (Heying) Huegel. He attended the parochial school in Alta Vista and helped his parents on the farm.
On April 11, 1939 he married Helen Shatek at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Lourdes. They settled on farms in the Elma- Riceville area and attended church in Elma and Riceville and in 1975 they moved to Crespo.
Cletus was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. He loved watching football and playing cards. He enjoyed the company of his dog “Sparky” who went everywhere with him in the pickup.Survivors include his wife Helen; four daughters: Beverly Trytek of LaGrange, IL, Nancy Irvin of Dubuque, Connie Sindelar of Cresco, and Joyce Wagner of Council Bluffs; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Cletus was preceded in death by two grandchildren, and his parents.
