DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Eileen L. Huberty, 81, of Dyersville, died Friday, March 27, 2009, at ManorCare Health Services, Dubuque.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 31, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with the Rev. Don Hertges officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. She was born on Dec. 1, 1927, in Dyersville, the oldest child of Herbert and Germaine (Stronk) Westemeier. She attended Xavier Grade School and High School.

She married Donald "Dimp" Huberty on June 7, 1947, in Dyersville; he preceded her in death in 1985.

In 1952, they moved to Dubuque, as both were employed at Farley and Loetscher Manufacturing. Eileen worked in the office until F&L closed. In 1960, they built a home in Dyersville, and she worked as an office manager at JCPenney. She then accepted a position as city clerk of Dyersville, a job she held for 29 years before retiring in 1990.

She was the secretary/treasurer for the Rural Community Fire Department for 46 years, retiring in 2008. She was a member of the Basilica Choir for numerous years. After retirement, Eileen found her niche in life: assisting people and her community. Her dedication to service included four terms on the Dyersville City Council, driving part-time as a volunteer for the Regional Transit Authority and working part-time in customer service at Younkers, in Dubuque, the job she never wanted to give up.

Eileen enjoyed family gatherings for birthdays, reunions and especially Christmas. She

had a special love for her grand-

children and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards, dominoes and bingo. She enjoyed bowling in many leagues in Dyersville and Dubuque and was an avid Cubs and NASCAR fan. Eileen will be missed by Laci and Mickey, the family pets.

She also was proceeded in death by her parents; a sister, Norma Wilson; a brother, David Westemeier; brothers-in-law, Dick Benke and Francis "Red" Wilson; and a great-granddaughter, Isabelle Dean, at birth.

In lieu of flowers, an Eileen L. Huberty Memorial Fund has been established.
