DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Jerome G. "Jerry" Hoeger, 67, of Dyersville, died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, at his home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 13, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with the Rev. Noah Diehm officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a vigil service will be at 2 p.m.

Jerry was born on Nov. 12, 1944, in Guttenberg, son of Gregor and Theckla (Schaul) Hoeger.

He married Mary Gudenkauf on Feb. 12, 1966, in Ryan. Together they farmed outside of Dyersville and raised their family. She preceded him in death on Oct. 14, 1996.

He later married Bonnie Carlson in 1997; she preceded him in death in 2010.

Jerry was a fun-loving man who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing cards, dancing, fishing and talking farm.

Surviving are five children, Connie (Dan) Carlson, of Powder Springs, Ga., Traci (Bill) Jennings, of Story City, Steve (Naomi) Hoeger and Terry (Rochelle) Hoeger, both of Dyersville, and Kurt (Tammy) Hoeger, of Winona, Minn.; 19 grandchildren, Trevor and Cassidy Carlson, Elli, Abigail and Jake Jennings, Zachary, Mariah, Evan, Derek and Gavin Hoeger, Taylor, Quentyn, Grant, Chandler, Jasmyn and Gabrielle Hoeger, Mary, Ella and James Hoeger; siblings, James (Diane) Hoeger, of Acworth, Ga., Rose (C.P.) Cox, of Dubuque, Rita Ameskamp, of Farley, Germaine (Art) Helle, of Manchester, and Norma Hoeger, of New Berlin, Wis.; in-laws, Vernon (JoAnn) Gudenkauf, of Masonville, Richard (Sharon) Gudenkauf, of Dyersville, Kathleen (Dick) Hogan, of Delhi, Lois (Omer) Fortman, of Manchester, Virginia (Phil) Kelchen, of Monticello, Jeanette Steffen, of Peosta, and Janet (Bob) Pottebaum, of Manchester; and many nieces and nephews.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; two brothers, in infancy; and in-laws, Al Ameskamp, George Pfelier and Roger Steffen.

Memorials may be given to Beckman High School and St. Francis Xavier Basilica.
