Telegraph Herald (Dubuque, IA) - Tuesday, August 6, 1996

DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Sylveria "Vera" (Grawe) Fitzhenry, 89, of Pasadena, Calif., formerly of Dyersville, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 1996, at Health Care Nursing Home, Pasadena.

Services were today at St. Philips Catholic Church, Pasadena, with the Msgr. Bower officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Dyersville. Friends may call after 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the cemetery chapel. The Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, is in charge of arrangements.

She was born on Aug. 26, 1906, in Dyersville, daughter of Henry and Caroline (Kruse) Grawe. She married Dr. Harry Fitzhenry in October 1969.

She graduated from St. Francis Academy and St. Francis School of Nursing, Evanston, Ill. She served as an Army nurse during World War II.

Surviving are two brothers, Charles (Jeanne) Grawe, of Glendora, Calif., and Milton (Donna) Grawe, of Dyersville; and a sister, Evelyn Graves, of Dyersville.

She was preceded in death by her husband in January 1983; her parents; and two brothers, Sylvester "Butch" and Arthur Grawe.
