DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Mary Anna Gansemer, 100, formerly of Dyersville, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001, at Heritage Manor, Dubuque, after a long illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a parish rosary recited at 4 p.m.

She was born June 23, 1901, in Holy Cross, the daughter of Chris and Anna (Oberbroeckling) Clemen. She married Martin Peter Gansemer on Sept. 13, 1921, in Holy Cross.

She was a homemaker and was employed in housekeeping at St. Francis Xavier Rectory for a number of years.

She loved needleworking. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of Americas.

Surviving are five sons, Joe (Kay) Gansemer and Marty (JoAnn) Gansemer, both of Dubuque, LaVern (Kay) Gansemer, of Sussex, Wis., Jerry (Phyllis) Gansemer, of Dixon, Ill., and Syl (Betty) Gansemer, of Dyersville; a daughter, Mary Ann (Mike) Elliott, of Elko, Nev.; a daughter-in-law, Laurie Gansemer, of Port Charlotte, Fla.; 29 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Leonard (Frances) Clemen, of Oak Crest Manor, Dyersville; two sisters, Frances Helle, of Edgewood, and Sister Canisia, OSF, of Dubuque.

She was preceded in death by her husband Martin in 1964; two sons, Ralph and Robert; a daughter, Jeanette Nieland; a son-in-law, Jack Nieland; five brothers, Joe, Alphonse, Albin, George and Gregor Clemen; two sisters Anna Willenbring and Bertha Maier.

The family wishes to thank Dr. O. Khatib and Heritage Manor for their loving care through Mary's illness.
