Barb,
The 1860 U.S. census, Giard township enumerated Pat Burk (age 40), Mary (age 29), Wm (age 5) & Mary (age 1). The children born in Iowa and adults born in Ireland.

The 1885 Iowa State census, Giard township enumerated Patrick Burke (age 70), Mary (age 55) and Bridget (age 12) & Sarah (age 14).

Both census' enumerated other Burk/Burke families in Giard twp. A search of the Clayton co. IAGenWeb site has additional Burke info. and a lot about Giard & Giard twp.
