In Response To: Re: Monona family "Thomas" (Mike Peterson)

Thank you for writing me, Mike.....I'm sorry, at this point I cannot make a connection for you (us!)with any of your aforementioned people....though I do not know when James Thomas or Griffith came to the US, they both were born in Wales- James (the son) in 1849, so though we may be looking at the same extended family (given they are in the same geographical area) the time frame does not correlate or the your womans names match any scant information I have.
BTW, I started out with this by getting myself rather confused, not knowing at first that Mononan (the town) was not in Monona (the County)....Monona-the-County being on the other side of Iowa, and yet I turned up male Thomas's there whose history included being born in the same district of Wales, and having been "sea-traders and farmers before emmigrating"

Once I can dig out one generation further back that the 1849 James, no doubt it will lead to a plethora of Iowa relatives; just have to figure out Which Thomas's.

thank you again.
