In Response To: 1852 Iowa State Census Enumeration Date (LeRoy Atkins)

The Boardman twp. 1852 census was taken "before August 4, 1852". The transcription notes refer to the Sperry twp. 1852 census:

http://sharylscabin.com/Clayton/census/1852boardman.htm

The Sperry twp. transcription notes: "Filed August 4, 1852"

http://sharylscabin.com/Clayton/census/1852sperry.htm

To the best of my knowledge, the images from which the census was transcribed do not have the specific dates that the Clayton county enumerator visited the residences.

I looked at some of the other Iowa county 1852 census transcriptions that do have dates (refer to the Iowa Census IAGenWeb Special Project:
http://iagenweb.org/census/ - there may be more info. there) Those I browsed have enumeration dates in July 1852 - examples:

Henry county: "Enumeration Date: ending July 5, 1852"

Louisa county: "Filed July 2nd, 1852" (like Clayton, Louisa has no specific dates)

Cedar county: "Enumeration Date: July 1, 1852"

Jones county: "Enumeration Date: July 5-26, 1852"

Hopefully this will help you narrow things down a bit.
