William or Wilhelm Kamphaus

My Great Great Grandfather (William Kamphaus) was recorded in the 1850 US Census and the 1852 Census as Kemphouse and Kamphouse, along with his spouse Eleanor.
He later moved to Winneshiek County and died and buried there in 1900. He was recorded in the 1870 and thereafter census reports in Winneshiek along with his Spouse,Sophia.(Which if you notice is not the same as Eleanor)
I am trying to tie in the missing years between 1852 and 1870.
Any ideas?
