Grace-Marie,
I am descended from Henry's father and have done a lot of research on the family. Here is what I know about Henry:
Henry Harry Ullman (1886 - 1977)
Henry was born in 1886 and married a Norwegian woman from Aberdeen, South Dakota named Clare E. (surname unknown). He and Clare had a daughter, Marie, who may have been Clare’s daughter from an earlier marriage. In 1917 he identified himself as a farmer. They lived at Fort Snelling in 1920 and lived for a time in Minneapolis, then moved to Oakland, California by 1930. In 1932, Henry was living in Salt Lake City, and in about 1934 - 1940 he lived in Bakersfield, California. Some time after 1930, Clara and Henry may have separated or divorced. A Mrs. Clara Ullman resided in Berkeley while Henry was in Bakersfield. He ran the Riverside Hotel in Roseville, California (in the Bay Area) in 1942, and named Annetta Ullman of the Riverside Hotel as a person who would always know his address. I’ve found no other record of Annetta. By 1969 Henry had moved south to Los Angeles, where he died in 1977.
I'm sure this is the Henry Ullman you are interested in, and I'm interested in comparing notes with you. I'd especially like to see the portrait. Could you possibly scan it and e-mail it to me?
Hope to hear from you soon...John E. Ullman
