Searching Burke Family

Does anyone know if it would be common for a railroad worker to live in Giard, Clayton County in the 1860s-1870s? Also, if one was a Irish Catholic back in the 1870s and lived in Giard, where would you attend church? I found Patrick and Mary Burke in the 1870, 1880, and 1885 censuses but can't find burial or death records. Maybe I am looking in the wrong place. Thanks for any help.
