Date: 1/31/2011 at 14:43:46You want any information but have not indicated facts you have acquired to date. Were you looking for individuals that may have personal knowledge of this family? I’m not one but just a volunteer that has some knowledge of how to conduct research.
If you want immigration data specific sources are available to be searched. I suspect that these families might be related to the Kafer families of Linn county and may be part of the Luxemburg migration to Eastern Iowa. Have you searched microfilmed newspapers for obits which are probably the best biographical sources available? There are German language newspapers on microfilm which could be the best sources for information on this family.
Here are some quick rough notes of persons believed to be members or descendants of this family. Most of this is from Familysearch.org. I do think that the spelling of the family name is more varied than is appreciated since I have already located Kaifer and Kifer. This is of course due to phonetic spelling employed by census takers and record clerks and is typically of Iowa in my experience.Detailed data has been sent to Mr. Kaffar privately
