Fred C. Glawe

Services for Fred Carl Glawe, 76, were held at Zion Lutheran Church in Clayton Center Friday November 30, 1973 at 1:30 p.m. Burial was in the new Clayton Center Cemetery. The Rev. John Zerhusen, pastor, officiated.

Glawe died suddenly Tuesday morning, November 27, of a heart attack. Neighbors said he was walking up the ally toward the post office when he was stricken.

A son of Fred and Caroline Kruse Glawe, he was born in Read Township on May 5, 1897. Glawe spent his entire life farming in Read Township unitl 1970 when he retired and moved to his home in Elkader. During World War I he was in the US armed service in the Medic Department.

On April 5, 1923, he was married to Grace Wilker at the home of the bride's parents in Read Township. Mrs. Glawe died in 1933.

Glawe received his education in the Read Township rural school. He was bptized in Zion Lutheran Church June 6, 1897, by the Rev. F. W. Seifert. He was confirmed there April 2, 1911, by the Rev. J. Burkhard.

Preceding him, besides his wife and parents, were a sister in infancy and two brothers, Lawrence and Elmer.

He is survived by a daughter Norma and two sisters, Mrs. George (Mahalia) Kahlbaum, Elkader and Mrs. John (Alice) Kluth, Farmersburg.
